Job Summary
UK HealthCare is seeking a highly motivated full-time clinical pharmacist for surgery services at UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital (GSH) in Lexington, Kentucky. This pharmacist will be part of a collaborative pharmacist practice with clinical coverage responsibilities within the Orthopedic, Colorectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastics, and General Endocrine and Metabolic Surgery service lines. At UK HealthCare the pharmacist makes clinical interventions via patient education, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug information, cost-effective care analysis, direct patient care through interdisciplinary rounds, and interacting with pharmacy and surgery residents and students. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an ACPE-accredited school/college of pharmacy, completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency (or equivalent experience), and must be eligible for licensure in Kentucky. Completion of a PGY2 residency is encouraged.
This position provides clinical pharmaceutical expertise for surgical teams through perioperative and post-operative/acute phases of care. The GSH surgery representative is responsible for assisting with transitions of care including resumption of home medications upon admission. The pharmacist will also provide dosage form interchanges and alternative therapy recommendations for surgical patients requiring crushed medications post-operatively. The pharmacist coordinates with primary and consulted services to ensure comprehensive patient care.

- Supports UK HealthCare’s educational mission through training of pharmacy residents, students, and pharmacy technician trainees, in addition to continuous personal professional growth
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year.
All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy
Experience: PGY1 or 3 years of equivalent hospital experience
