Job Summary
Direct planning, implementation, and use of assessment for student learning to improve educational and institutional quality. Guide assessment for student learning and other continuous improvement efforts of academic and non-academic units. Assist with HLC Liaison responsibilities for the College.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.

 

1. Lead the development, implementation, analysis, and reporting of assessment at all levels (i.e., course, program/discipline, and institution).

 

2. Consult with academic chairs and faculty members regarding the development of learning outcomes and assessment plans, analysis of results, and use of them to improve student learning.

 

3. Consult with student services deans, supervisors, and staff regarding the development of co-curricular learning outcomes and assessment plans, analysis of results, and use of them to improve student learning.

 

4. Administer, maintain, and provide training for software solutions used to document and facilitate assessment and continuous improvement (e.g., Watermark).

 

5. Monitor and report on documentation of course and program level assessment.

 

6. Provide faculty and staff with professional development resources and instruction related to assessment and accreditation.

 

7. Co-chair the College’s Curricular and Co-curricular Assessment Committees and Chair the Assessment Steering Committee.

 

8. Lead ongoing activities related to HLC accreditation to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement.

 

9. Develop and administer a timeline for the successful completion of HLC required reports (e.g., monitoring and interim reports, change requests, and assurance argument).

 

10. Update relevant pages of the College website and intranet.

 

11. Serve as budget manager, including engaging in financial planning and judicious expenditure of funds.

 

12. Regular attendance is expected.

 

13. Using tact and courtesy, the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.

 

14. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g., education, psychology, or other social science), a minimum of three years practical experience with student learning outcomes assessment, and a minimum of three years practical experience with an institutional accreditor (e.g., the Higher Learning Commission) and its processes are required. Qualified candidates must also have excellent computer skills that include, but are not limited to, familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office products; outstanding oral and written communication skills that demonstrate an ability to produce information that is audience specific; and strong organizational skills.
