Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry, in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, is seeking a Scientist II to work in the lab of Dr. Samuel Awuah. This position will work in Chemistry in the field of chemical biology and drug/probe discovery using chemical synthesis, in vitro assay prioritization and in vivo studies.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Chemical synthesis of biologically relevant compounds
  • Understanding complex biological problems
  • Mechanistic investigation using chemoproteomic methods
  • In vivo characterization of probes and drug leads using mouse models


This position will work with Dr. Awuah to secure continued funding and present research findings at local, regional, national, and international conferences. This position will meet with undergraduate and graduate students in an advisory/supervisory capacity related to overlapping or adjacent research topics. This position is integral to the research aims of the Awuah Lab.
