The Program for Inclusive Education (PIE) at the University of Notre Dame is seeking applications for a teaching faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level in its accredited Mild Intervention: Exceptional Needs teacher preparation program. PIE is housed in the university's https://iei.nd.edu/ and provides professional learning opportunities for Catholic educators in multiple formats: a) an 18-credit hour additional licensure program, b) onsite and online professional development, and c) content-specific resources. The program's mission is to advocate for students with diverse learning needs and support Catholic schools by integrating evidence-based inclusive practices to create a culture where we Welcome, Serve, and Celebrate all students.
This twelve-month, permanent hire position includes responsibilities for distance education courses throughout the academic year, summer on-campus instruction, and professional development delivery. Onsite professional development requires travel.
Teaching/Teaching Formation (40%)
Teaching responsibilities will include teaching online and onsite instruction. Course assignments will be made depending on content expertise. However, an equivalent of four classes per academic year is anticipated. Proposed course responsibilities include:
• One (1) 2-credit PIE summer online course-EDU 70205: Assessment & Data-Based Decisions
• One (1) 2.5-credit ACE M.Ed. summer on-campus course-EDU 60312(24, 36): Inclusive Teaching Practices (ITP)
• One (1) 4-credit PIE fall course-EDU 70208: Planning, Methods, & Service Delivery
• One (1) 4-credit PIE spring course-EDU 70207: Literacy & Language Methods
Professional Learning Delivery (30%)
The Program for Inclusive Education provides a spectrum of professional learning opportunities to (arch)diocese and Catholic schools. They include virtual events, online modules, onsite workshops, and resources/publications. Expectations include:
• Constructing and delivering content for local, regional, and national events
• Writing/developing learning materials and resources
• Traveling for short periods
Service to the Unit & Institute (25%)
Service occurs with PIE program development, the broader impacts of PIE, Institute and University engagement, and contributions to the field. Expectations include:
• Contributing as a member of the PIE Team through visioning, planning, and programmatic efforts (e.g., recruitment, candidate interview and selection, and on-campus events) as appropriate
• Advancing PIE program evaluation
• Supporting ACE Teachers in their professional growth as they work with diverse learners
• Partnering with the units in the Institute for Educational Initiatives and other University departments/colleagues to advance PIE work on inclusive education
• Serving on IEI and/or University committees
Research & the Professional Field (5%)
Research will contribute to both theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of inclusive education. Participation may vary depending on skill set and could include independent investigation or collaborative work with PIE and the Center for Educational Research and Action (ERA). Expectations include:
• Contributing to Catholic inclusion research
• Contributing to relevant professional organizations and publications (e.g., Council for Exceptional Children or National Catholic Education Association)
• Presenting at regional and national conferences
The candidate will be appointed in the university's non-tenure teaching professor track at a rank commensurate with experience and employed within the Institute for Educational Initiatives. The position offers a highly competitive salary, benefits, and support for professional development.

Qualifications:
Competitive applicants will possess:
• An earned terminal degree in Special Education or a relevant educational field, such as School Psychology
• K-12 teaching experience or service delivery
• Expertise in Literacy and the Science of Reading is preferred
• Experience in higher education content construction and teaching/delivering professional development
• A record of or potential for professional research, especially research with implications for K-12 inclusive educational practice
• The ability to relocate to South Bend, Indiana
• A willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education
