Open Rank in Quantum and Energy Science

The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for open-rank positions in Quantum and Energy Science, broadly defined. Research areas include but are not limited to quantum computing, quantum information, quantum communication, quantum materials, quantum sensing, and quantum optics and quantum energy. Applicants in all areas of experimental and theoretical quantum science are encouraged to apply. These positions are created under the University of Texas System Regents' Research Excellence Program. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regents' Distinguished Research Professor. Faculty hired at a lower rank will earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure.

Job Requirements:
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Physics and have demonstrated long-term focus to physics research, possess postdoctoral experience, have a strong record of research accomplishments, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful senior-level candidates will be national or international leaders in their respective field, have demonstrated attention to promoting STEM education and research opportunities to pre-college, college and graduate students, have already established and maintained an independent externally funded research program that can be expanded upon, at UTEP, through collaborations with existing researchers in the department and by collaborating with other professors hired under this program. They must be able to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, perform service to the Department, College and University, and engage in outreach activities. The new hires will be core members of faculty of the Physics Graduate Program and instrumental in expanding team-based research in the Department of Physics. The university has committed to support of these positions with generous start-up funds.
