Job Summary

The Assistant Director of CARES First Generation Operations and Case Management at the University of Kentucky serves as a cornerstone for undergraduate support, blending program advising with strategic operations and case management to foster student success. The Assistant Director works closely with the CARES Unit Director to harness student and program data, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and targeted student populations to tailor programmatic outcomes. This analytical approach is critical for the continuous improvement of services within the CARES unit, involving collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that data-driven practices inform the development of supportive community and skill development programs. The position requires a skillful balance of strategic planning, problem-solving, and multitasking to efficiently support student needs.

In their advisory capacity, the Assistant Director provides critical guidance to undergraduates in the areas of academic monitoring, personal and professional development, and navigating university resources. This involves facilitating effective communication among faculty, academic advisors, and various campus partners to ensure a cohesive support network for students. The role is essential in helping students navigate their academic and career pathways, employing tools for efficient record-keeping and data management, and demonstrating a deep understanding of the academic environment’s complexities.

The Assistant Director also plays a pivotal role in program delivery and outreach, focusing on maintaining a supportive academic environment through referrals, liaison work, and the development of campus partnerships. This includes overseeing unit-wide initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating workshops and presentations aimed at skill development across various domains. By providing content expertise and developing specialized programming that aligns with student needs, the Assistant Director fosters an engaged campus community and supports the holistic development of students. This position embodies a unique blend of operational management, advisory expertise, and program development, making it essential for the advancement of student enrichment and success at the University of Kentucky.
