Assistant/Associate Professor in Systems Engineering
The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Systems Engineering. This search seeks candidates with a systems-centric research and teaching record in systems engineering, with a focus on digital engineering, model-based-systems engineering (MBSE), System-of-Systems, AI/ML in systems engineering applications, design and optimization, system design lifecycle, and other aspects of systems engineering and systems engineering science
The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic department, contributing to research, teaching, and service in alignment with UTEP's mission as an R1 research institution and a Hispanic-serving university.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality research in Digital Engineering, AI/ML applications in Systems Engineering, and related fields such as system design lifecycle and optimization.
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Systems Engineering, with an emphasis on Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and systems lifecycle management.
- Lead innovative research efforts that integrate MBSE and AI/ML with real-world systems engineering challenges.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. students in Systems Engineering.
- Secure external research funding from competitive grants, industry partnerships, and other sources.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance research and academic programs in Systems Engineering.
- Participate in department, college, university, and professional community service activities.
Job Requirements:
A Ph.D. in Systems Engineering or related fields, including Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science. Commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Demonstrated scholarly achievements as evidenced by a track record of publications. Demonstrated potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program. Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate a record of extramurally funded research to support their research program and a level of professional accomplishment commensurate with the position rank.

Hiring decisions are based on budget approval.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
