Assistant Professor in School Counseling
The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor for our CACREP accredited Counseling program beginning in Fall 2025. The program is housed in the Department of Counseling and Special Education in the College of Education. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, research, service, and community engagement as well as collaboration across the university. Teaching assignments will be based on candidate's experience and expertise. The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including the following: (1) teaching graduate level courses, including in-person, hybrid, and online courses; (2) developing or maintaining and growing a sustained program of research and scholarship; (3) participating in efforts to seek external funding; (4) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work, as well as professional and community service; (5) collaboration with colleagues, (6) advising students; and (7) supervising students' field experiences.
This position is located on UTEP's main campus in El Paso, Texas. This is not a remote position.
Job Requirements:
- An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP approved program or closely related field [ABD considered but doctorate must be completed before tenure-track appointment].
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in graduate level courses.
- Evidence of a sustainable program of scholarship and research.
- Relevant experience in the field of School Counseling.
- Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, professionals, and community organizations.
- Commitment to maintenance of CACREP standards.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bilingualism in English and Spanish.
- Experience as a school counselor.
- An understanding of and commitment to community and globally engaged scholarship.
- Licensed or Certified as a School Counselor and/or eligible to be certified as a school counselor in the state of Texas
- Ability and flexibility to teach both foundational and advanced Counseling courses.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position comes with a start-up package and excellent fringe benefits.
